Book 1: How to Become a Gardener by Ashlie Thomas. I read her book and listened to a recent podcast. Very informative!
Book 2: The Gangsta Gardener by Ron Finley. I watched a few of his videos. He, too, is very informative! Also, his project is engaging kindergarteners to become gardeners. Check it out!

Friday is a good day for dancing! I will feature three books that are about dancing.
Book 1: Dancing in the Wings by Debbie Allen; illustrated by Kadir Nelson. A story about a long-legged girl who is determined to prove she can be a dancer.
Book 2: Brothers of the Knight by Debbie Allen; illustrated by Kadir Nelson. A delightful story about 12 brothers who can dance their shoes off!
Book 3: Life in Motion Young Reader’s Edition by Misty Copeland. This memoir chronicles Misty’s journey to become the first African American female principal ballet dancer at the American Ballet Theatre.
This Throwback Thursday is featuring books written about historical musicians and operas.
Book 1: This beautifully written and illustrated story is about a father’s passion for baseball and a boy’s passion for violin/music.

Book 1: How the Unicorn Got its Horn by Calandra and Camille Gibson. Mother and daughter team up to write a powerful story on patience and being careful what you ask for.
Book 2: A classic story beautifully and written story by John Steptoe
Book 3: A contemporary twist on fairy and folk tales with beautiful photographs.
Today’s focus is poetry. Starting with one of Detroit’s own, Dudley Randall. He was a poet, publisher, and founder of Broadside Press.
